Endlessly enchanting photos of Tokyo at night by Masashi Wakui

With its dizzying array of lights, neon signs, red lanterns, and crisscrossing back alleys, Tokyo has a limitless supply of beauty to offer to any up-and-coming photographer. And that beauty is what self-taught photographer Masashi Wakui sought to capture in his stunning pieces taken around the city at night. Winding his way through the iconic streets of Shinjuku, Shibuya, and other neighborhoods, Wakui captures that simultaneously buzzing and lonely atmosphere of Tokyo perfectly.

After getting the perfect composition on his camera, Wakui digitally manipulates the image using a signature color palette recently dubbed the “Masashi Wakui Look”. Various tutorials have even sprouted up trying to copy the look, some even coming close enough for the artist himself to point to their similarities.
