A massive balloon cloud appears to be drifting inside the 19th Century Market Building in London’s Covent Garden. The breathtaking 54 meter (177 foot) piece titled Heartbeat is the work of French artist and photographer Charles Pétillon. And true to its namesake, the installation is embedded with a gentle pulsating light meant to mimic the beat of a heart.
“The [balloons’] goal is to change the way in which we see the things we live alongside each day without really noticing them,” Pétillon said. “With Heartbeat I want to represent the market building as the beating heart of this area – connecting its past with the present day to allow visitors to re-examine its role at the heart of London’s life.”
The installation will be on display through September 27t. [h/t mymodernmet.com]
