The sheer technical skill employed in one of Gregory Thielker’s paintings is nothing short of astounding. He employs a hyper-realistic style to create scenes from inside a car window in the rain.
“These paintings became a way to explore… how the driving experience informs our basic interpretation of environment,” he says. They’re a reflection on our own reflections of the world from the inside of our cars. The American artist based in Bulgaria connects to specific places in order to call into question the way recognition and narrative can sway one’s perception.
Thielker has exhibited throughout the United States and abroad. Recent exhibition venues include Bennington College, Vermont, The Brattleboro Art Museum, Vermont, Republic Gallery, Paris, and Flashpoint Gallery, Washington, DC. [h/t artfucksme.com]
