Fragmenting identity – The mosaics of Micaela Lattanzio

It’s a pleasure to introduce a new series of artworks by Micaela Lattanzio an italian artist based in Rome. Fragmenta is a project started in 2013 where the artist focuses her research on the fragmentation of identity. The work is the result of a painstaking manual cropping where the image is transformed into an intricate mosaic that deconstructs the iconographic material of departure. Micaela Lattanzio has presented her last production during Context fair in Miami, actually the artist is working on female identity, the disintegration of fisionomy is also a consequence of the new radical process in which women rights are again in danger because of politic and social discrimination.fragmenta 2017 1 Micaela Lattanzio-minHer works are on view at Royal Caribbean art collection, MAAM, the Museum of Elsewhere in Rome and Ca’ D’Oro gallery in Miami. fragmenta 2017 7 Micaela Lattanzio-min fragmenta 2017 6 detail Micaela Lattanzio-min fragmenta 2017 5 detail Micaela Lattanzio-min fragmenta 2017 4 Micaela Lattanzio-min fragmenta 2017 3 Micaela Lattanzio-min fragmenta 2017 2 Micaela Lattanzio-min
