Going into their fifth year, WALL/THERAPY recently transformed the city of Rochester, New York by inviting artists to paint 14 murals centering on the themes of surrealism and the fantastic. WALL\THERAPY is an art and community intervention project which uses murals as a means to transform the urban landscape and build a sense of community. Not only are the images provided as a way to inspire the local community, the walls on which they’re painted are also resurfaced and rehabilitated.
Artworks ranged in subject from a gigantic superhero casually sitting on the side of a building, to a gigantic whale swimming within a whale-shaped bubble. With just 15 artists, the event was an intimate one that allowed the artists time to appreciate the city they were helping to heal. [h/t thisiscolossal.com]
