Nicola Alessandrini is an Italian street artist and illustrator who isn’t interested in lining his home country’s streets with the kind of colorful nice-looking art usually found in Berlin. Nor is he interested in the politically charged but overall inoffensive-to-look-at art produced by Banksy and his stencil. Instead, Nicola Alessandrini produces disturbing images of hybrid animal-humans that resemble horrific mythical beasts from an ancient Greek’s worst nightmare. Alessandrini imports a world of bloodied pigs heads, decapitated birds and lizard beasts onto the streets of Italy with a precision, and a magnificent attention to detail. What the locals must think is anyone’s guess.
