The African inspired art of Hannah Waters

I’ve always loved art. Looking at it, interpreting it and putting my own experiences on paper. Especially my travels. A lot of my work is focused on Kenya, after a recent visit there completely blew me away. I use thick acrylic ink to get a vibrant background often sponging it on or leaving it to dry in thick blobs. Sometimes I overlay it with spray-paint to get some sort of finer texture in it. A lot of the colours are what I remember from Africa, the deep sandy earth and the hot sunsets with cloudy dust and the vibrant colours reflected on the skin of the people. Then often the figures emerge around the background and become the focus of the piece effortlessly.

I am in my last year of studying art at school and am applying at the moment for Foundation Art courses and programs in the UK so I can keep doing what I love and hopefully make a career out of it someday. ~Hannah Waterstumblr_nwj0t30V4A1ujcnm6o1_1280 tumblr_nwj1jtI6CT1ujcnm6o1_1280 tumblr_nwj1s5lU1ujcnm6o1_1280 tumblr_nwj2ovByki1ujcnm6o1_1280 tumblr_nwj4elLs9s1ujcnm6o1_540 tumblr_nwj43g6Z7Y1ujcnm6o1_1280
