The partial revelations of Auda Mallo

I love to play with color and visual texture in my paintings. They hold the idea of creating a palimpsest – a surface whose markings have been partially erased and new markings create a dense visual history in a single work. Partial revelation and partial concealment — visual, social, emotional — is a primary concept within the work. I believe that at all times, one experiences that the curtains or veils of life are lifted and others are lowered, at different levels. Alternating consciousness is the driver of this lifting and lowering: consciousness of opportunity, beauty, inertia, dynamism, richness, sparity, etc. The paintings portray this layered conscious texture with all its clarity and obscurity at the same time. ~Auda Mallo
